hard previously unreleased dubplate cuts on side a, i roy vocal & dub on the same rhythm on the b-side! legendary channel 1 dubplate music. this version of -free black man- by earth & stone was scrapped for release in favor of the softer version that eventually appeared on their -kool roots- album, but this heavy cut achieved infamous dubplate status thru play on uk sound systems. in the case of this tune, it seems only dubwise cuts made the rounds, as we ve not heard (or heard of) a full vocal. and like many tunes not pegged for release from back in the day, mixdown masters were never kept, so only dubplates remain to haunt us. here you get two hard dubwise cuts, remastered from dubplate (punters beware!), raw as ever. on the flip side, i roy s vocal, the only released cut on this rhythm, as well as the only released dub, as appeared on the -musical dub attack.-

deep88 is back! here is a 7 track lp, music without any pretence, no silly fx or crazy compression/production tricks to take away from the music. just that 1988/1993 vibe with a slight balearic twist but some how avoiding to sound like a poor copy or dated. this last statement couldnt be any truer on this release. the vibe is carried through the whole ep with each consequent track then offering something a little bit different, some showing his balearic side and other tracks having a more house feel.

rhythm section look to poland once more for two of the most uplifting tracks of the year. earth trax (known for his productions as the phantom & one half of ptaki) and newcomer newborn junior pull two absolute classics out of the bag here that do what they say on the tin. both sax track and flute track centre around ecstatic midi melodies on (you guessed it) saxophone and flute! falling somewhere between the late night deep house excursions of ron trent (circa morning factory era) and more recent retro-leaning breakbeat driven output from the pender street steppers et al, the sax & flute ep is a masterclass in sustain-release. euphoria guaranteed - or your money back!

d3 elements continues to mine the fertile soil of midwest inspired house, techno and electro with this fantastic new album from michael dykehouse (sometimes found turning out experimental fare on planet mu and ghostly). here the grooves are immediate and engaging across nine tracks, from the bubbly -meltdown morning- to the spooked-out -clock division-, touching on a range of styles all bound together by a commitment to classic drum machine beats and synthesiser tones. this is far from a throwback record though, instead celebrating dykehouse s innate musicality through all manner of tempos and moods and coming out as a well-rounded long player in the process.

having already issued a few cassettes via his own harsh riddims label as well as cgi’s sister label dka records, ryan parks brings his fit of body project to cgi for his debut 12inch, release. here we are treated with two previously unreleased original cuts as well as galcher lustwerk and twins reworks of a pair of older tunes. fit of body’s sound is unique among the current crop of bedroom dance producers in that it can ignite a dancefloor while still feeling deeply personal. this mood is enhanced by the way parks colours his tracks with his own voice. his approach to adding live instrumentation to the arrangements lends a handmade delicacy otherwise lacking in so much hyper-quantized machine music. these are tracks that will feel at home in the dj booth, your living room and your bedroom.

the label say sounding like a comedown-classic which is way too funky to be an ambient record and has the power to cut as deep as any decent delta blues album.. we like it here. tip!

parachute is proud and excited to release art rock unit starfuckers legendary sinistri lp, remastered and pressed on vinyl for the very first time since its original version in 1994 on underground records. formed in 1987, starfuckers is an italian avant-garde band primarily from the 1990s, considered a notable part of the experimental rock scene and one of the more out there acts during their active tenure. originally inspired by 80s post-stooges noise and new york city no wave, starfuckers eventually carved their path to their own distinctive sound by following in the footsteps of xenakis, john cage, maderna and stockhausen — all without ever abandoning their own attitude and raw personality. an incredibly important record for us here at the label, sinistri feels just as fresh in 2016 as it did in 1994.

newcomer region takes no time to get his credentials across, and this debut ep is all you could possibly ask for from an artist making their way up the food chain. coming though on the young jaunt label, region dishes out some seriously magnificent dub techno lashings here, with the opener -subline- being something of rough gem, the remix comes from lies-associate voiski, and the frenchman strips the whole thing down to a deeper, murkier tone that we ve come to associate him to. -borders-, on the b-side, is a supremely deep and meditative house track with a touch of the shed in it, and main man basic soul unit drops his version of the tune, a broken beat assemblage with that same dubwise feel that wraps the groove of the original cut.

zarenzeit is a band project by the label owners with lead keyboarder and producer george btp, also known as allstarr motomusic or dan piu. after several live projects back in the 90ies, the band releases its first full album as black inside with vocalist debra jones davis and sarignia bonfà. the lp infuses deep soulful house and 80ies funk elements, starting with the ambient house drift of time travel, which soon settles into a classic rare synth pop as 2souls, 1heart, while let them know they won blasts more into the spacy and light dancefloor. sarignia s lovely gospel version of talk about a child, ends the album on a spare, but no less grooving, note. quality house music not only for adults.

detroits brainstorm have achieved cult status as a group among underground disco, soul and boogie aficionados worldwide. hot for you lifted from their 3rd lp from 1979 has always been a huge record for the more discerning disco jocks, those who like to dig a little deeper to find the gems. a real dancefloor burner that found favour with everyone from larry levan to daniele baldelli after it s original release. the same can be said for journey to the light, another anthemic slice of midtempo michigan soul that was hugely popular in london on its infamous -rare groove- scene, pirate radio stations and beyond. lifted from the bands second lp and oozing class journey is a stellar cut, truly essential! both of these tracks on one 12- already make this an essential release for any real soul head, but the fact that the versions featured here are private re-edits from one of the true masters of the game s private vaults makes it utterly unmissable. yes, thats right - danny krivit, disco royalty, a true pioneer and re-edit trailblazer adding his unique touch to these incredible pieces of music make this a particularly hot biscuit. danny has kindly opened up his archive and in conjunction with tabu / demon music group brings us these amazing reworkings. both tracks have been lovingly edited and tweaked by mr.k himself with dj s and dancers in mind. 100% legit!

having previously worked with zero 7 and nightmares on wax before embarking on a solo career a few years back, mozez (aka soul singer/songwriter osmond wright) is no newcomer. the ray mang-produced run river first appeared on last year s wings full-length, and here makes it to wax for the first time. sitting somewhere between early freeez and odyssey, mang s extended vocal version is something of a soulful, soft-spun disco-funk treat. as we ve come to expect from mang, its musically rich and impeccably played, with the live instrumentation providing a deliciously organic feel. this can be heard more clearly on the excellent flipside instrumental.
